Mike Bruce, Brown & Brown (Europe) CEO

Mike Bruce joined GRP in 2015 and in December 2018 was appointed to the newly created role of Group Managing Director. Following completion of the investment by Searchlight Capital Partners into GRP in July 2020, he became CEO of the business. Following Brown & Brown's acquisition of GRP in 2022, Mike became CEO of Brown & Brown (Europe) in September 2023.

Mike graduated in Mathematics & Physics from the University of York his career in IT Management consultancy, specialising in the Insurance and Broking Sectors. He joined Lambert Fenchurch in 1999, progressing to the role of Group Managing Director of Heath Lambert and in 2010 joined Bluefin becoming CEO in 2013. 

Mike’s Background in broking covers the Lloyd’s, speciality and UK retail Sectors.

 

Duncan Carter, Brown & Brown Insurance Brokers (UK) Limited CEO

Duncan has spent over 30 years in the UK insurance industry, on both broking side and with insurers.

Prior to joining GRP as Retail Division CEO in August 2021, he spent nine years at Marsh, where he held a number of senior market-facing roles including managing director, markets, managing director, direct and partnerships and his final position as head of placement and networks.

He also spent 18 years at Allianz in the commercial division, where he was head of Premierline Direct before joining Jelf (now Marsh Commercial) in 2012.

 

Neil Thornton, Brown & Brown Insurance Brokers (UK) Limited Regional Managing Director North

Neil has responsibility for Brown & Brown Insurance Brokers (UK) Limited Northern and Irish businesses. He joined GRP (now Brown & Brown) in 2016 as Managing Director (Retail).

Neil started his insurance career in 1987 at family owned broker Smart & Cook where he rose to become Deputy MD. Following Smart & Cook’s acquisition by Axa, Neil held a series of senior roles within Axa’s broking consolidator business BlueFin, before being appointed Head of Retail in 2011 Neil is an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute.

 

Stuart Grieb, Brown & Brown Insurance Brokers (UK) Limited Regional Managing Director South

Stuart brings over 30 years’ experience in the insurance sector, having started his career at Bowring in 1991. Stuart held a variety of executive roles at Marsh, Towergate, Brightside and Willis Towers Watson before joining GRP (now Brown & Brown) in 2020 as Regional Managing Director Retail South.

Stuart has responsibility for Brown & Brown Insurance Brokers (UK) Limited Southern businesses.

 

Chris Parker, Brown & Brown Insurance Brokers (UK) Group Finance Director

Chris leads the finance team at Brown & Brown (Europe) - delivering financial leadership to support both organic and M&A growth, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, and delivering effective business support and insights.

Chris has over twenty years’ experience as a finance professional, the last five of which were as Finance Director of County Group Insurance, before being promoted to his current role in 2022.
